Family Dinner

One of my biggest fears coming to college was not having my family around to laugh with, to play games with, to get a simple hug from. I am someone who loves being around my family.

Yes, I am aware I am not the most normal human being on the planet.

Being here I have been lucky enough to find a kind family of my own. We are all different, but I think that's sort of what brings us together. There isn't a day where I don't see someone in the family at least once. Whether that be at dinner or just hanging out in the Hale lounges, I see someone. Almost every night we even have what we call "family dinner". It started out as a joke, but honestly I have come to love it. I look forward to seeing everyone and laughing and having a good time. No matter what kind of day I have had, I know that they'll be able to make me laugh. Well each of them are unique so I'll give you a little bit about each of them.

I'll start with Mackenzie because I already talked about her in my first post. Kenzie is from Idaho and I feel like I have known her for forever. She is into art and is amazing at it. She has an incredible testimony in the gospel and has the light of Christ that shines through her each and every day. I seriously look up to her in that way. Next semester she'll be my roommate and I am so excited. She loves her potatoes and is also and amazing blogger. I would definitely say check out her posts; you will not regret it. Oh! She is also a twin, can't forget that.

Next I'll go to Morgan. Morgan is also from Idaho and is actually Mackenzie's twin. She plays the French Horn and piano and is amazing at both of them. I love listening to her play. She loves politics and she loves the Gospel. She has her mission call to the New York Rochester Mission and leaves this November. She is going to be speaking in the Spanish language. She is going to be an amazing missionary and I can't wait to hear all about how her mission goes.

Morgan is on the left and Kenzie is on the right.
The next ones are in random order so don't think too much into it. You might make your brain hurt.

Next, I guess I'll go to Tyce. He is from Idaho and he is super sweet. He's involved in theatre, which for me was a yay reaction. The first night we met I actually talked to him about how we were both involved in theatre back home and what different shows we had been in. He has a grandfather that actually is serving a mission here and teaches here on campus. He is super quiet, but can definitely make some witty comments. He was also just in the play that just took place here at school and did amazing. I loved getting to go and watch him with the rest of the family. He was a late joiner, but is definitely a member of the family now.

Kortney is from the beautiful state of Colorado. I actually met her while working on a group presentation for a class, and we ended up staying friends. She loves Gossip Girl and thinks that Blair and Chuck should be together. She understands me! She's always smiling and is awesome. She also joined the family a little later, but is a full fledged member and I have loved and continue to love getting to know her more and more.

Alright now onto the ones I have known a little longer.

Abby oh Abby. She is seriously hilarious. She has a wit that I don't think I have seen in a lot of people. She is not afraid to be honest and straight forward with you. She will definitely tell it to you straight. She is into most things science, except Chemistry if I remember correctly. I believe she also loves Biology. She is from California and she loves the show How to Get Away With Murder. She also loves her bubbles drinks the Seasider here on campus. She is super smart and I can't wait to work with her on the Research Paper in English. I am definitely going to be sad when she leaves Winter Semester. Oh and she helped me edit this blog so that makes her pretty awesome sauce too.

Zeph and I, we're like this.

It's this finger thing my friend Justice came up with. I'll talk about him in a bit. Zeph is also from California and is into surfing and skateboarding. He is also a master at making the most beautiful ice cream swirls I have ever seen in my life. He is always smiling and can make the best out of any situation. He is also going to be serving a mission in the near future. I will also miss him a lot when he leaves. On a side note, he is also killer at the card game BS.
Then there is Connor. Connor is a ginger and I think that is wonderful. He's a hopeless romantic who also sings. He is in the honors program and the comedy club. He is also in the Gamer's club and a pro at Smash (a video game). He gives amazing hugs and is a king at grammar. He is also one of the sweetest guys I have met. I know that I can always go to him for a hug when I am feeling down and he will give me one without a question. Sadly he is taking the spring semester off so I will be missing him early next year. Oh and he is from the great Midwest! He's not quite touching Illinois, but Midwest nonetheless. He's from the lovely state of Ohio!
Last there is Justice. Justice is unique. He can be an absolute turd, but then he can also make you laugh at the drop of a hat. His jokes are lame, but funny nonetheless. He is from Oregon and loves his peanut butter. He is not afraid to go on crazy adventures and is hiking almost every weekend. He also loves Ultimate Frisbee. You will always see him with a hat on his head covering his rapidly growing locks. He also loves Netflix and his naps. He is also someone that I can stay up hours talking to and completely lose track of time. The last thing about him is that he always comes up with these phrases or things that he does that everyone always steals from him. It's kind of awesome.
(intense)
(the finger thing)
(Son of God)
(Richard)
(Daughter of God)
(His hat)
(Hurtful truth or sweet lie)
(Nap time)
Each one of them is unique, but I love each of them for those characteristics. No matter where you go in the world, no matter who you are with, you can find those who will be there for you. You can make your own family, big or small. Never give up. If I had given up I never would have found my family here and honestly I can't even imagine not having them around now.
Don't give up on finding your crowd, you'll find them eventually.
Sorry this one was so long. When I am writing about those I care about I tend to talk a little (lot) more.
Thanks for reading!
Much love,
MJ
