What's Next?

As I have been home from my mission, one of the most popular questions is about what I am going to be doing next. Makes sense that people want to know. We are a curious people, who love to know things. I get that; I am not an exception. With that, I figured, why not let people know what is going on. I have been home for about 7 weeks now, and I'm doing pretty well. I have been back to Illinois and loved getting to go back to where I was born and raised. I have loved getting to learn Arizona and meet those whom I am suppose to meet here. Going back to my mission only 6 weeks after coming home was amazing and I have loved being able to go to Provo for weddings of some mission friends! Summer has definitely been busy!

For those who want a condensed version of what I am going to talk about, go ahead and skip to the end! Other wise continue on!

In about a week however, that true summer life is about to quickly fade away. For a lot of you, you know that I was attending Brigham Young University - Hawaii. Oh goodness, I love that place. That school will always hold a special place in my heart. I was able to earn my Associates Degree with an emphasis in Music and then I left on my mission. Now the question of will I be returning. In simple terms, no I will not be. As much as my heart would love to, it is more important to do what the Lord has asked. Obedience is so important if were are to truly make it through this crazy life. When I got on a plane October 31, 2016 to fly home from my final semester at BYU H, I felt in my whole being that my time there was complete. I had accomplished what He needed me to do there. If it was up to me, I'd be back there beginning this fall. However, that is not what is in the plans.

This fall I will beginning as a transfer student at Brigham Young University - Provo. In truth, this was not the school I thought I would end up attending. I love to be warm. I love small classes. I love when my teachers know my name and who I am. I love knowing that when I walk around campus, I WILL see someone I know. BYU does not have those things. What does it have? It has the fact that God has made it clear He wants me there this fall. So there I will be. I will miss Hawaii. But it is the same way that I miss my mission. A chapter in my life that has ended. One I look back on often and remember the beautiful memories from it. I know however, that a new chapter is beginning, and I am excited for that. As I mentioned in lesson learned, I know God has a plan. We just have to be willing to follow it. That is what I am trying to do. I can't say for sure I will finish here, or that I won't. All I know is this fall I am suppose to be attending BYU.

In regards to work, I guess you could say somethings don't change. This fall I will be a RA in the Heritage Hall dorms! I loved being an RA in Hawaii and felt it was something I should do here as well. I applied and will have the amazing opportunity of working with the new freshman this year. I now God is going to let me meet some amazing people.

Before the mission, my major was music. Officially, it still is. However, I am not quite settled about that, so there is a chance that it will be changing. To what you ask? Well, if you find out will you let me know? Right now, I am continuing to pray about it and figure it out. What I do know is the theme for my hall this fall is Minions and I am pumped for that.

Overall, life is great. My family has been amazing in helping me transition, and I am slowly figuring out who I am in this world as the new version of myself. What I know is I am a daughter of God. He loves me and I love Him. All I am doing is working on following His plan for me.

I'd love to hear your plans and what is going on with you, so feel free to let me know. I promise I will love to hear about it.

Condensed Version:
Future Plans: Attending BYU Provo this fall. Considering changing my major to undecided. Working as a Resident Assistant in Heritage Halls dorms.

Much Love Always,
MJ Baird
